President Jokowi Inaugurates Bakauheni - Terbanggi Besar Toll Road Along 14,5 Km

LAMPUNG - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has inaugurated the Bakauheni - Terbanggi Besar toll road project which is part of the Trans Sumatera toll road. On the occasion, he stressed that the toll road project from Bakauheni to Palembang could be completed before the implementation of Asian Games.

The Bakauheni - Terbanggi Besar Toll Road Project consists of Package 1 of Bakauheni-Sidomulyo, which is Bakauheni Port - Simpang Susun (SS) Bakauheni along 8,9 km, and Package 2 of Sidomulyo - Kotabaru, namely SS Lematang - SS Kotabaru segment 5,6.

As reported from pu.goid (22/1/2018), President Jokowi in the inauguration confirmed, "Why are we immediately inaugurated? (Because) I want to encourage the (toll road) from Bakauheni to Palembang to be completed before the Asian Games run, but it is still very long, I know there are still small problems, a land acquisition that must be resolved."

After the inauguration, President Jokowi tried the Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar Toll Road by trucking as a symbol that the Toll as a national logistics link which connecting Java and Sumatera as well as in the framework of developing a downstream area based on high potential agricultural commodities in Lampung Province.

Furthermore, Toll can be passed without tariff as part of socialization to the community especially the first Toll in Lampung. Bakauheni - Terbanggi Besar Toll Road is one of 24 segments of Trans Sumatra Toll Road which developed by PT. Hutama Karya through assignment from the Government and designated as a national strategic project (PSN).

Meanwhile PUPR Minister, Basuki Hadimuljono said that the presence of Trans Sumatra Toll is aimed at lowering national logistics costs other than the existing East Sumatera Cross Road. The construction progress of Toll Bakauheni - Terbanggi Besar with a total length of 140,9 km already reach 65,65% and the land acquisition progress is up to 95,2 %.

"For Bakauheni - Terbanggi Besar, I am optimistic to connect in July 2018. We push to continue to Kayu Agung up to Palembang so it also can be finished soon," said Minister Basuki Hadimuljono.
