Government Temporarily Suspend The Construction Work of Infrastructure Project
JAKARTA - All infrastructure construction work on elevated heavy loaded structures will be temporarily suspended by the Government. This move is followed by a comprehensive evaluation of the design, standard operating procedure (SOP), work methods, human resources, equipment including tightening supervision.
The decision to temporarily suspend the construction of a flyover followed by evaluation was the result of a meeting between Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi and Minister of SOE Rini Soemarno, Construction Safety Committee and SOE Directors' at the Office of the PUPR Ministry, Jakarta, Tuesday (20/2/2018).
"All elevated work in Indonesia, which requires heavy-loaded work, such as girder and pillar/pierhead installations are temporarily suspended. The temporary suspension is applicable for all Trans Java toll roads, Trans Sumatra, Toll roads in Kalimantan, Sulawesi, long bridges and LRT projects, MRT and private projects," said PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono as reported from pu.go.id (21/2).
Minister Basuki explained, "The overall evaluation will be conducted by the Indonesian Contractor Association assisted by independent consultants Meanwhile for grade construction such as rigid pavement work, asphalting, foundations, dams will still continue."
The suspension will expire after the evaluation is completed and received with a recommendation from the Chairman of the Construction Safety Committee to decide whether or not the project will continue. "The decision to continued or not depends on the evaluation results, project by project, and not necessarily simultaneously," said Minister Basuki.
In addition, the results of KKK evaluation will be submitted to the Ministry/Institution as the owner of the work as a matter of consideration to sanction the contractor, consultant and responsible work unit of the Ministry/Institution.
