Jokowi Affirm Will Not Delay Infrastructure Development
JAKARTA - President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asserted will not delay infrastructure development in Indonesia. Cost issues are the main consideration, as delays in infrastructure development will make the costs swell.
This was conveyed by President Jokowi when inaugurating the Jombang-Mojokerto toll road on the toll road of Section II Jombang-Mojokerto Barat, East Java. He describes if the construction of Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) began 26 years ago, then the price of land is still around Rp 2-5 million per meter. Currently, the price of land in Jakarta is around Rp 80-200 million per meter.
"Just imagine, it's cost per meter, how expensive if infrastructure development continues to delayed," said President Jokowi as reported from setkab.go.id (11/9)
President Jokowi explained that infrastructure is the key to a country winning the competition because the availability of infrastructure can lower logistics costs, as well as facilitate competition with other countries. As an illustration, logistics cost which is the cost of transporting goods from one place to another or from one province to another province in Indonesia is 2,5 times more expensive than Singapore and Malaysia.
"If the cost is expensive, that means that the burden of society is expensive, goes there. Therefore, such connectivity is very necessary once," said Jokowi.
Realizing that, the President said it would not delay any further infrastructure development in the country. That's why President Jokowi welcomes the news from Minister of Public Works and Housing Basuki Hadimuljono which explaining that the Kertosono-Mojokerto section II-section III section is ready to be inaugurated.
